The breastfeeding support program is a program designed to assist you to feed your baby successfully.
You are welcome to bring your own lunch, snacks and drinks. Sandwiches can be provided for mothers attending the program.

How the breastfeeding support program can help you

The breastfeeding support program offers the services of a lactation consultant in a warm and friendly environment.

The program aims to:

  • provide assistance and information to enhance a mother’s ability to successfully breastfeed
  • promote self-confidence and satisfaction in mothers wishing to breastfeed
  • promote the health and nutrition of both mother and her baby
  • provide assistance and information regarding settling techniques

Who may attend

  • parents experiencing feeding / parenting difficulties with babies
  • mothers who are experiencing problems and require extra assistance to successfully breastfeed their baby
  • parents with unsettled babies

How to access the breastfeeding support program

Families may self-refer or be referred by:

  • pre-admission clinic staff
  • hospital staff
  • district nurse
  • maternal and child health nurse
  • general practitioner
  • paediatrician
  • obstetrician

What you should bring to the program

  • your child health record book
  • nappies and a change of clothes for baby
  • pram (for baby to sleep in)
  • toys for other children
  • plastic bag for soiled nappies

The program is open Tuesday & Friday 9.00am – 3.00pm by appointment
